‘They will try’ – Fabrizio Romano makes Spurs January transfer prediction

Fabrizio Romano believes that Tottenham will look for ‘smart’ deals in January similar to the Brennan Johnson transfer they completed in the dying stages of the summer window.

Spurs have absolutely flown out of the blocks at the start of the season and are currently sitting at the summit of the Premier League table after ten matches.

However, it is fair to say that Tottenham fans are not under any illusions about the strength of the squad, with Ange Postecoglou lacking quality backup options in some areas of the pitch

Journalist Dean Jones wrote in his column on GiveMeSport last week that signing a centre-back is a priority for the Lilywhites in January, stating that the likes of Lloyd Kelly, Marc Guehi, Trevoh Chalobah, and Ko Itakura are on the club’s radar.

He also added that Postecoglou is keen on strengthening in the wide areas, with Kerem Akturkoglu, Pedro Neto and Jota said to be on the Australian’s wishlist.

Tottenham will continue to be clever with transfers

Romano believes that the Premier League leaders will study the market opportunities and look for value-for-money signings.

He told Men in Blazers Podcast about Tottenham’s January objectives: “I think they will try to do something. With the same style, they did with Brennan Johnson. So not super-big names, but something smart in January to help the squad and help the manager.

“Tottenham will look at the market in a smart way again, they’re very happy with the current situation, they don’t want to touch too much, but if they can find something smart as they did with Brennan Johnson then ok.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The pool of players on the market in January is usually quite limited, which is why it would not be easy to find deals such as the Brennan Johnson one.

However, if we manage to keep up with the likes of Man City and Arsenal until January, the club need to gamble in the market to give Postecoglou an opportunity to potentially achieve the improbable.
