‘They will try’ – Journalist tips Daniel Levy to complete early transfer business

Speaking to GiveMeSport, journalist Pete O’Rourke has tipped Daniel Levy to complete business early in what is a very important transfer window for Tottenham.

With the Telegraph reporting that Antonio Conte has requested six new signings, including a goalkeeper, a centre-back, a right-sided wing-back, two central midfielders, and a striker this summer – Levy will likely be busy sanctioning deals.

Spurs have already been linked with a number of names in these positions and with The Times claiming that Conte wants these six new positions filled, as well as eight outgoings, prior to Spurs’ pre-season tour of South Korea, it is likely that Fabio Paratici and co will have to move swiftly.

However, with Levy renowned as a deadline-day mover, it is clear that he will need to adapt his tactics in order to appease Conte.

O’Rourke feels this is a huge summer for Spurs in the transfer market: “With Daniel Levy feeling he gets the better part of the deal if he waits to the end, maybe the selling club might be reluctantly selling and at a lower price, so it’s a game of cat and mouse.

“I don’t think things will change drastically at Tottenham. They will try and do their business early, but it’s not easy dealing with the selling club, but Daniel Levy loves a transfer deadline day deal, so I wouldn’t rule that out either.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs fans have been pleading with Levy to work early in the transfer market for years but he forever insists on dragging out deals until the final days of August.

With Conte reportedly speaking “honestly” to Levy and Paratici (Football.London), things may change this summer in order to fulfil the Italian’s demands. But I won’t be surprised if we creep into late August and we haven’t secured all of our priority targets.
