‘They would make their money’ – Spurs-linked striker hints at a summer transfer

Rumoured Tottenham target Ivan Toney has now gone public with his desire to leave Brentford at the end of the season and his admission has not gone down well with Brentford fans.

Since returning from his ban, Toney has reminded everyone just why he is one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League, having found the back of the net four times and impressed for a struggling Brentford side.

It has been reported by various outlets over the past few weeks that Tottenham are prepared to battle the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle and Man Utd for the 27-year-old at the end of the season (HITC).

However, earlier this month GiveMeSport explained that while Spurs are big fans of the England international and are plotting a move for him, they have no intention of getting involved in a major bidding war for the centre-forward.

Ivan Toney clearly wants to transfer this summer

Toney has now confirmed that he sees his future away from the Gtech Community Stadium, expressing his intention to depart in the summer.

The striker, who enters the final year of his contract in June, was asked to describe his perfect summer, and he told Sky Sports: “I’m in the mix for the Euros and then we win the Euros. Let things fall into the place. If Brentford were to sell me, they’d make their money, I move to Madrid and it’s all good.”

According to The Mirror, Toney’s words have not gone down well with Bees fans, many of whom are appalled that he would give such an interview, especially given the important matches that Thomas Frank’s men now have coming up.

I can understand why Brentford fans will be fuming with Toney’s statement as they would expect him to show the club some respect, given the way the way they stuck with him during the ban.

However, the 27-year-old has not said too much wrong here as it is an open secret that he is on the market, with Thomas Frank admitting the same not too long ago.
