‘They’re my club’ – Premier League star opens up on his love for Tottenham

Alex Scott has admitted that he loved scoring his first Premier League goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since he grew up supporting Spurs.

Scott won many admirers with his brilliant showing in the Championship for Bristol City last season and it was reported by several sources last summer that Tottenham were one of a whole host of Premier League clubs eyeing a move for the youngster (Ben Jacobs – Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel).

In the end, it was Bournemouth who won the race for the 20-year-old’s signature, with the Cherries paying £25m to take him to the Vitality Stadium.

Although Scott is yet to establish himself as a regular in Andoni Iraola’s starting eleven, he has shown glimpses of his quality in some substitute appearances over the course of the season.

The 20-year-old’s solitary Premier League goal to date came in the Cherries’ 3-1 loss at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in December of last year.

The youngster, who has previously admitted that he grew up supporting Spurs (Filthy Fellas podcast), has now shed light on where his affection for the North London side comes from.

When asked how he ended up as a Tottenham fan, Scott told AwayDays: “Literally my dad. And then I fell in love with Tottenham as a kid. So yeah, they’re my club!…[The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium] was the perfect place to score my first ever goal”.

While we may not have seen the best of Scott in a Bournemouth shirt yet, the youngster certainly possesses the talent to make a big mark in the South Coast over the next year or two. One would cexpect Tottenham to continue keeping a close eye on the midfielder’s development.
