‘Things will happen in the summer’ – Ryan Mason talks Spurs rebuild

Ryan Mason hinted towards a summer rebuild at Tottenham in his pre-match press conference this afternoon ahead of the final game of the season.

Spurs take on Leicester City in their last match, which will also likely be Mason’s final game in charge of the club as interim head coach.

Mason was given the reins until the end of the current campaign when Jose Mourinho was sacked back in late April, but no permanent successor has been announced as of yet.

However, the former Spurs academy graduate claimed that he expects things to happen this summer with regards to a rebuild because of the new manager coming in. He also added that Tottenham needed to move back towards their DNA.

Spurs have endured a woeful campaign that has seen them fall from first to seventh in the Premier League, lose a Carabao Cup Final and get knocked out of the Europa League by Dinamo Zagreb.

Asked about a summer rebuild, Mason said (Football London): “I think things will happen in the summer because there’s a managerial change that needs to happen. That will happen and to echo the chairman’s words we need to get back to our DNA.”
