Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to hold talks over a deal for Mateus Fernandes, but he is not the only midfielder on the Lilywhites’ radar.
Over recent days, it has become clear that Spurs have accelerated their efforts to secure Fernandes, who is expected to leave West Ham following their relegation.
Tottenham had been speaking to the Hammers’ midfielder’s representatives regarding a move across London, as they look to beat Man United to the 21-year-old’s signature.
Spurs Web has relayed many reports over the last 48 hours that suggest that the Lilywhites are now preparing their opening offer for Fernandes, but the Red Devils are not going away just yet.

West Ham demanding a huge fee from Tottenham for Mateus Fernandes
Journalist Ben Jacobs has now confirmed that Tottenham are in ‘advanced talks’ with the Portugal international, but made it clear that West Ham will not offer a discount.
The journalist explained that the Hammers have been boosted by a £90m shareholder cash injection, and thus are not under any pressure to sell quickly.
They are allegedly sticking to their £80m-£85m valuation of the former Southampton man as they look to make a 100 per cent profit on the midfielder.
Jacobs wrote on X: “Spurs are in advanced talks with Mateus Fernandes as they rival Manchester United for the West Ham midfielder. Fernandes is one of Tottenham’s top targets, as exclusively revealed. West Ham seeking £80m-£85m, around double what they paid to Southampton. An incoming £90m shareholder cash injection is likely to leave West Ham in a stronger negotiating position. Manchester United are also in talks with both Fernandes and West Ham.”
Spurs are also eyeing two other Premier League midfielders
Over recent days, some sources have said that Spurs are ready to offer £85m plus add-ons for Sandro Tonali, as they make efforts to strike an agreement with Newcastle over the Italian.
Jacobs has now confirmed that the Magpies star continues to be on the radar of De Zerbi’s side, as is Bournemouth youngster Alex Scott.
The journalist continues on X: “Spurs are also rivalling Manchester City for Sandro Tonali. And Spurs, Manchester United and Arsenal all have Alex Scott on their radar, who Bournemouth hope signs a new deal. Movement expected now in the next days/weeks on all fronts as clubs enter into the new financial year.”
