‘This game is different’ – Serge Aurier shares his views ahead of Arsenal clash

Serge Aurier has assured Spurs fans that the players know what the North London Derby means to them and vowed to win the game at all costs.

Just a point separates Tottenham and Arsenal going into the clash on Sunday and a win for either side could be decisive in not only deciding who finishes higher but also in the race for European qualification.

There may not be a lot of optimism from Spurs fans going into the game due to the team’s mixed displays since the restart.

While Tottenham have tightened up defensively, some fans have been left fuming with the lack of creativity going forward.

Aurier, who has been as wasteful as any Spurs player in the final third, insisted that the Lilywhites have to beat Arsenal on Sunday and it does not matter how they get the job done.

Speaking to the club’s matchday programme (as relayed by The Mirror), the right-back said: “You don’t just play a derby – it is not a normal game. There’s a different flavour about it.

“You don’t just want to play this derby to be a part of it. You play to win.

“Maybe you don’t play the best, maybe you don’t have a lot of the ball but you don’t care because when you win this game, it doesn’t matter how you play. We just want to win.

“This game is different. You need to put more pressure on yourself and more aggressiveness in the game itself because there is a different feeling about it.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I doubt any Spurs fans will be complaining if we defend for ninety minutes and fail to create too much of any substance on Sunday as long as we come away with a 1-0 win. We certainly have problems in the team that need to be addressed but Serge is right in saying that all that will matter against Arsenal are the three points.
