‘This is going too far’ – Dele leaps to the defence of Manchester City defender

Dele Alli has expressed his support for former Tottenham defender Kyle Walker after he came out and accused the media of harassing him.

The full-back ended up in hot water last month for defying the UK Government’s lockdown rules with reports claiming the England international hosted a ‘sex party’ (The Sun).

The Manchester City star has since apologised for his actions and admitted that he should have known better being as a role model to youngsters (CNN).

The Sun reported on Thursday that Walker had once again defied the lockdown protocols by visiting his sister on her birthday, following a trip to his parents before cycling near a second property which he is renting.

This did not sit well with the 29-year-old, who took to Twitter to suggest that the report crossed a line and that he was being harassed.

Dele has now taken to Instagram story to express his support for the defender amidst the tough time he is going through.

The Spurs midfielder wrote: “Hate seeing another one of my friends be targeted by the media. Kyle has made mistakes and isn’t hiding from that but this is going too far. Here for you @Kylewalker2.”

Walker must have been a little careful given that he was already being scrutinised in the press. However, the Sun is a deplorable publication who deliberately try and shame footballers and other celebrities just to get clicks and sell more papers. This certainly has consequences in the social media age where people tend to pile on others who make mistakes.
