Tottenham Hotspur fans have endured yet more bad news on the injury front today as the club announced that Heung Min Son was to undergo surgery on his elbow.

This came after the player fractured his arm in the match against Aston Villa on Sunday, despite playing through the pain and scoring twice.

This comes just two weeks after Andre Gomes returned to training for Everton, with the midfielder recovering from an ankle break sustained against the Lilywhites.

Fans will remember that Son played a part in the injury that day and even received a red card for his troubles.

The South Korean made a cynical challenge from behind, which led to Gomes catching his studs in the turf and colliding with Aurier, breaking his ankle.

The red card was rescinded as it was determined that Son’s challenge was not violent conduct, but merely the catalyst of a freak accident (BBC).

However, it seems some Everton fans have not forgiven the Spurs player, as a few seemed to celebrate his injury today on Twitter:

  1. Reading these disgusting and necrotic comments by bitter and twisted people who have the audacity to call themselves Everton fans is appalling and makes me sick to my stomach. To wish any footballer serious injury is beyond contempt, and further to laughand throw scorn at such is wholly moronic. These sad idiots still blame Son for Gomes’s injury, though Son quite clearly did not actually cause it. And to serve a reminder to all these wrongly accusing myopic morons, Son’s erroneous red card was subsequently quickly rescinded by the FA absolving him of any wrong doing. And in amongst all this poor Son was absolutely devastated about Gomes horrific and freakish injury leaving the field in tears and clearly concerned for the well being of his fellow professional. As a player Son more often than not plays with a huge smile on his face, he is a stalwart professional with a bright and positive attitude, in short a model professional whom many would do well to emulate. I wish you a very speedy recovery Heung Min, and look forward to when we will be watching you back to your very best, as soon as is conceivably possible!
