“This looks sooo weird” – Vertonghen reacts to Tottenham tweet on Hojbjerg

Jan Vertonghen has taken to Twitter to react to Tottenham Hotspur’s tweet in which they revealed Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s squad number.

The Dane was confirmed this evening as Spurs’ first signing of the summer with the deal said to be worth £15million plus bonuses (Sky Sports).

The North London outfit revealed that the 25-year-old will wear the number 5 shirt, which was vacated by Vertonghen following the conclusion of his contract.

The defender departed Tottenham last month in which he ended an eight-year association with the Champions League finalists after joining the club from Ajax in 2012.

Vertonghen reacted on Twitter by claiming that he was weird to see another player’s name on the back of a Spurs shirt above the number which he wore so proudly season after season.

The 33-year-old is yet to reveal which club he will join after leaving Spurs as a free agent with interest said to be already coming from clubs in Italy and Spain (Evening Standard).
