Tottenham supporters have voiced their frustration and disappointment after reports emerged that Lucas Bergvall is seeking a new challenge away from north London.
Tottenham Hotspur’s change in strategy, with focus now placed on bringing in experienced players, appears to have created problems of its own.
Youngsters signed in recent seasons are beginning to consider their futures, fearing that competition could hinder their development.
The arrivals of Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke have already left Luka Vuskovic weighing up his options, with Spurs Web reporting that the Croatian is prepared to hand in a transfer request to force a move away.
Lucas Bergvall is also understood to be considering his future, with Tottenham turning their attention to midfield reinforcements such as Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.

Tottenham fans split as Lucas Bergvall considers exit
Tottenham fans who have seen the latest reports regarding Bergvall have reacted strongly, with many distraught at the thought of losing the Swede.
Bergvall was named the club’s player of the season in the 2024-25 campaign and is widely regarded as having huge potential.
One Tottenham supporter admitted: “This one hurts man. He’s gonna be a very good player.”
Another fan, however, urged Spurs to cash in: “He sees the writing on the wall with who we are targeting. Imo he’s the most overhyped player in the squad, if we can get £40m for him you take the money and run. Same goes for Sarr also.”
Others expressed their disappointment, with one saying: “That’s a real shame, could accept Vuskovic but not Bergvall.”
Another added: “I understand it completely from the player’s side but have to say personally I’ll be gutted to see him leave. He will go on to be an absolute superstar I have no doubt.”
A different Tottenham fan reflected: “Honestly, it’s great that he picked us over Barca, the goal against Liverpool was great too. But he knows he’s unlikely to get game time for us with our current midfield and any new additions. Imo this is the best for the player and for us, as much as it hurts.”
One final supporter warned: “This would be a huge mistake. We beat Barca to his signature. You don’t just let someone like that walk away.”
Spurs risk losing depth with Bergvall departure
Tottenham’s strategy of building for the future has not gone as planned, with reliance on unproven youngsters contributing to back-to-back 17th-place finishes.
For Bergvall, having played a vital role in his first campaign only to be relegated to the bench, the situation is understandably difficult.
Had he arrived with the expectation of learning from veterans, the transition may have been smoother.
Roberto De Zerbi is clearly focused on building a squad capable of competing immediately, rather than long-term development.
Spurs, however, still require depth, and losing a player of Bergvall’s quality and Premier League experience would represent a significant blow.
