‘This season will be different’ – Pochettino on Tottenham splashing the cash

For a moment, it looked as if Tottenham would fall short again this transfer window. Then it looked as if they were signing every player out there.

However, as the summer window slammed shut for another year, Spurs were left with four superb signings to show to the fans.

Jack Clarke and Tanguy Ndombele signed far earlier in the window, with the former going back out on loan to Leeds and the latter enjoying a good pre-season with the Lilywhites (BBC).

However, business was not done there for Daniel Levy, as he splashed out yet again on deadline day. Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso came through the door right at the death (BBC), giving Spurs fans a quartet of new heroes.

It is fair to say that Pochettino seems rather chuffed with the backing from the club after a season of no signings last campaign.

Could this be the start to his new chapter at Spurs?

Poch said (Football London): “I am very happy, I was happy with my squad and to add some more players, they can bring good energy and help us to achieve what we want.

“I was focused on trying to work hard to coach in the best way. I hoped the club would do the job that we want to try to bring players in and to try to be competitive with our opponents.

“Our opponents have always been adding, but now was the time to add some new faces to motivate and spark our players, but also to create excitement for our fans.

“This season will be different, we start in our new stadium and we have to be ready for another exciting season and working hard to try and start tomorrow to win, which is our objective.”
