The print editions of both Corriere di Bologna and Corriere dello Sport are now claiming (as relayed by Sport Witness) that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to get a deal for Takehiro Tomiyasu over the line soon.
Tomiyasu has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs over the past few weeks, with reports indicating that Fabio Paratici was in talks with Bologna for the Japanese international.
It was even reported last week that Tottenham had made two offers for the versatile defender and were close to reaching an agreement with Bologna.
The Athletic reported today that Spurs are ‘closing in’ on the signing and that the fee is likely to be around £15m plus add-ons.
If the latest updates in the Italian press are to be believed, it is only a matter of time before the 22-year-old becomes a Spurs player.
Corriere di Bologna have claimed that this week ‘this week will be important for the sale’ of Tomiyasu, with a ‘definitive offer’ expected to arrive from Tottenham.
Meanwhile, Corriere dello Sport claim that the operation to take the versatile defender to Spurs is ‘very hot’, with both sides keen on striking a deal.
The report also adds that Tomiyasu has expressed his intention to join the Premier League and that Spurs and Atalanta have already agreed a fixed fee of €20m (£17m), with only the bonuses left to be ironed out.
Spurs Web Opinion
While it does seem like Tomiyasu is Tottenham bound, Alasdair Gold’s recent revelation to Spurs fans on Paratici’s modus operandi should serve as a warning not to get ahead of ourselves.
The journalist said on his Youtube channel that Paratici likes to enter into negotiations for up to ten different players for just one position, in order to ensure he gets the best deal.
So, even if reliable sources report that Spurs are in talks with a player or that the club are close to agreeing on a fee, that does not mean the transfer is certain to go through.
