Thomas Frank addresses Tottenham transfer plans after two new names join the injury list

Thomas Frank has now addressed Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer plans as the club’s injury list continues to grow.

Tottenham Hotspur’s list of absentees has continued to grow following defeat at the hands of Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Mohammed Kudus initially appeared to be the latest player set to join Spurs’ injury list, before further knocks picked up by Lucas Bergvall and Rodrigo Bentancur took Tottenham’s total number of absentees to eight.

The pair now join James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Dominic Solanke, Mohammed Kudus, Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma as players unavailable for selection.

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank opens up on transfers amid injury crisis

Thomas Frank was forced to include Luca Williams-Barnett on the bench, and only weeks ago named two goalkeepers among his substitutes, underlining just how stretched his squad has become.

The departure of Brennan Johnson, without a replacement having been signed so far, has only added to the strain on Tottenham’s squad depth.

The Spurs head coach has now opened up on the club’s transfer plans during the winter window, with injuries continuing to pile up for the Lilywhites.

Speaking to football.london, Frank explained the club’s position and the challenges involved, saying: “As I have said quite a few times, we are in the market and the club is working very hard. It is difficult in January, and we need to get players in that can improve the squad.”

Spurs face testing January as pressure builds

The winter window is notoriously difficult to navigate, but Spurs have had several months to prepare for this scenario.

It is claimed that Tottenham have set their sights on a full-back, Souza, whom they are looking to sign this winter.

Spurs’ initial bid for the 19-year-old was rejected, and reports from yesterday state that Tottenham have returned with an improved offer for Souza, although they will need to move quickly amid competition from Chelsea.
