Archie Gray has not featured heavily for Tottenham so far this season, but Thomas Frank has now shared his thoughts on the teenager’s development so far.
Archie Gray was one player who saw a considerable amount of gametime during parts of last season, largely due to the injury crisis that gripped the Tottenham squad.
This season, however, the teenager has not had as many minutes, although he has still been involved, making two starts – one in the Premier League and one in the Carabao Cup.
In both of those games, Gray performed without error, and importantly, he was used in his preferred midfield role, rather than the makeshift defensive positions he was asked to fill across the backline last season.

Thomas Frank on Archie Gray’s development at Tottenham
Ahead of Tottenham’s clash with Leeds this weekend, Thomas Frank has now been asked about Archie Gray’s progress since joining Tottenham from Leeds United, and the manager offered a positive assessment of the youngster’s growth.
Speaking about the midfielder’s journey, Frank highlighted the valuable lessons Gray has already experienced at the highest level and pointed to his potential to keep improving.
As quoted by the club’s official channels, Frank said: “He is still a very young man. He played a lot of Premier League minutes last season, across the defence and in midfield.
“So many experiences, some tough moments and in those you develop. I really, really like him as a player. He needs to keep doing as he is doing. Came on against Bodo, part of making a difference, he did well against Doncaster and learned a lot. I like everything about him.”
Spurs fans call for Archie Gray to start against Leeds United
Tottenham fans have been impressed with Archie Gray’s performances this season, and many have even called for Thomas Frank to hand the youngster a start this weekend.
Spurs face Leeds United on Saturday afternoon, a fixture that would mark Gray’s return to Elland Road after leaving the club for Tottenham a few summers ago.
The teenager is no stranger to starting Premier League matches, and with Rodrigo Bentancur struggling in the recent defeat to Glimt, it is not far-fetched to imagine Gray being given the opportunity in midfield ahead of the 28-year-old.
