Thomas Frank calls for Ange Postecoglou return as Tottenham fans call for change

Thomas Frank has said something interesting about Ange Postecoglou as calls for the Tottenham boss to be sacked continue to grow louder.

Some of the pressure was lifted on the Tottenham boss following the wins over Brentford and Slavia Prague, but his head is now back on the chopping block.

Some Spurs fans are now calling for the club to pull the plug on the Frank project after the team delivered another shocking performance against Nottingham Forest (The Sun).

Thomas Frank is hoping Ange Postecoglou returns to the Premier League

There is a section of Spurs fans who are now questioning if the club made the right decision to sack Postecoglou in the summer, particularly given the much-criticised style of football that Frank has delivered this season.

The former Brentford boss is hopeful that the man he replaced at Spurs will get another opportunity in the Premier League despite his ill-fated spell at Forest.

When asked about Postecoglou, Frank said (via Football.London): “I don’t know him personally, but I hope Ange comes back. He clearly loves being a coach and being in the game, so I always hope good coaches come back in.

“Ange has been in many ways a very successful Spurs manager. They had a very good first season here in the Premier League, and they won their first trophy in don’t know how many years, and that’s definitely part of success.

“Also, he had that in the past at Celtic and so on. There are a lot of circumstances about why things are good and why things are bad. I don’t think it’s my job to go into details about that.”

Frank says he is building on the foundations laid by Postecoglou at Tottenham

There has been a lot made of the contrasting approaches of Postecoglou and Frank, with the former always preferring Spurs to play on the front foot, while the latter has been extremely cautious in his approach.

However, the current Spurs boss suggested that he is actually building on some of the foundations laid by his predecessor at the North London club.

Frank added: “The only thing I can say is Ange is a legend and always will be. He won a massive trophy; he was a big part of that, and we all stand on the shoulders of others. I stand on the shoulders of Ange, and now I’m trying to build on that.”
