Thomas Frank issues long message to Tottenham fans after Burnley boos

Tottenham Hotspur were unable to claim a victory over Burnley, leaving Thomas Frank with no choice but to once again address the club’s frustrated supporters.

Tottenham Hotspur entered this weekend sitting 14th in the Premier League table, after a disastrous London derby defeat to West Ham seven days earlier.

However, teams in the English top flight are separated by narrow margins, meaning Spurs still have a chance to qualify for European football next season.

Despite this, Tottenham are still stuck in the same position after they failed to defeat Burnley, a team who currently sit in the relegation zone.

With Spurs failing once again to record a Premier League victory, Thomas Frank is coming under increasing pressure from his team’s furious supporters.

Thomas Frank attempts to reassure the Tottenham fans

It is no secret that Frank is not well liked among the Spurs fanbase, but the Danish boss has attempted to change attitudes towards him with a post-match message.

Rather than saying something new, Frank is determined to reiterate the point that he and his players are working hard to change their fortunes.

He told Football London: “I think the message to the fans, as I’ve said the whole time, is that we’re working very hard to make sure everything is going in the right direction and we’ll keep doing that.”

On yet more booing, he added: “First and foremost, I want to thank them for travelling and supporting the team throughout the game, which they do.

“I’m sure they can recognise and acknowledge especially the first half, and the improvement we’ve done there, and could and should have put it out of sight. But also acknowledge the will-power and character of the team that keeps running, keep fighting, to the end.

“We just need to keep going. We do so many things right. But there’s no doubt, that when it’s not dropping so easy for us, the consistent performances we’ve done, which I think I said that many times, they actually are in an OK level.

“But apparently because of where we are now, we need to do more, to make sure we get the wins over the line. Especially in the Premier League. And one of the bits is to play every third or fourth day, to perform, that demands a lot of mentality.

“We have a few injuries, that doesn’t help, but that’s part of it. Never any complaints from me, that’s reality. But that’s where we need to be strong enough as a team to keep performing every third or fourth day.”

Hard work might not be enough to save Frank at Spurs

Frank can keep on doing his best to get results at Tottenham, but many are wondering if his finest efforts are really good enough to make the difference.

The ex-Brentford manager made a big step up when he took on the role at Spurs and perhaps that was too big a leap to take.

Of course Frank is working to turn things around, but he needs to do something major in the next few weeks or else his time in North London will be over.
