Thomas Frank makes bold claim about ‘talented’ new Tottenham starlet Souza

Souza has finally signed on the dotted line and is officially a Tottenham Hotspur player after weeks of waiting for the deal to be announced.

Despite being linked with Tottenham since the start of the window, it took a couple of weeks for the Souza deal to get over the line.

In that time, Spurs have signed Conor Gallagher and seen a number of other players pick up injuries. Most notably, Ben Davies is out for the rest of the season, which means Souza’s arrival couldn’t have come at a better time.

Thomas Frank may be eager to get the youngster on the pitch sooner rather than later, then. And the Spurs boss has said some very positive things about his new player already.

Thomas Frank raves about Souza as Tottenham transfer confirmed

Souza described the move as a dream come true, and by the sounds of it, Frank feels much the same about getting some reinforcements for his squad.

Speaking on the club website, Frank said: “I’m really pleased to add Souza to our squad. He is a talented, promising young full-back, who is forward-thinking and technically very good.

“I’m looking forward to working with him and helping developing that potential, as we believe we have bought one of the brightest left-back talents in the world, who can give us something now but also for the future.”

It’s a massive claim from Frank, to label Souza as one of the best in the world in his position. Hopefully, now, the youngster can live up to the hype.

What’s next for Spurs in the transfer market?

Souza becomes Tottenham’s second signing of the January transfer window, but hopefully the Lilywhites are not done there.

With fresh injury concerns for Lucas Bergvall to add to the pile of absentees, Frank’s squad is scarily thin right now.

We know Tottenham were looking at signing a creative midfielder and a left winger. There’s no reason to believe those areas are not still the priorities heading into the final week of the window.

If we consider Souza is not necessarily a player that goes straight into the starting line-up, Spurs are lacking in genuine first-team quality still and the board needs to step up and do something about that. If they want Thomas Frank to stay, he needs the tools to do his job effectively.
