Thomas Frank makes interesting eight-in-a-row claim about Tottenham’s form

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans may not be too impressed with Thomas Frank’s assessment of Spurs’ recent performances after his side’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund.

Some of the doom and gloom surrounding Spurs has been temporarily lifted as they maintained their perfect record in the Champions League and moved to within touching distance of a direct passage to the round of 16.

While Thomas Frank’s job is by no means safe as of yet, the Dane potentially bought himself some time, and the Spurs hierarchy’s decision not to make a managerial change before Tuesday’s clash was vindicated.

In many respects, Tottenham played with the kind of intensity and attacking intent against Dortmund that the supporters have been crying out for since the start of the season, but Frank insists it is not the first time his side has produced this kind of display.

Thomas Frank claims Tottenham’s performances have been much better recently

Even though results have continued to go from bad to worse for his side domestically of late, Frank insists that there has been a clear upward trend in his team’s performances.

The Tottenham boss insisted that the Dortmund game was the eighth straight encounter where the Lilywhites have delivered a decent showing, suggesting that they have not had the rub of the green in previous matches.

When asked how Spurs can translate their Champions League form into the Premier League, Frank told Football.London: “I think the big thing is to build on this with a performance and a win against Burnley on Saturday. What I would say is that it’s a big skill to be able to produce Premier League, Champions League, Premier League, Champions League every week from the team and players.

“That we’re working very hard on and I actually think and I keep saying it because I mean it, this is the eighth game in a row where I think we consistently performed quite well. Not everything has been through the roof, but overall good in all games, but we haven’t been able to get over the line, get a little bit of the margins with us.”

Frank admits Spurs had some luck against Dortmund

The former Brentford boss suggested that the fine margins that have gone against his side over recent weeks went in their favour on Tuesday night.

Frank added that it is now upto the players to build on the win over Dortmund, and he is confident that the results will come.

The Spurs boss added: “Today, you can say the little margins were maybe a red card that helped a little bit instead of the one we had against Liverpool going the other way.

“And of course the triple contract of Dom inside the post, goal, boom and down where we didn’t get that against Sunderland, West Ham and Bournemouth, where all three we should have won with the performance we put in. So, we just need to do the same thing, keep believing and then we just know that things will turn.”
