Thomas Frank opens up on Tottenham’s ability to attract top-class stars in January

Thomas Frank has weighed in on whether the best talent in world football would be attracted by the current Tottenham Hotspur project.

According to various reports, Spurs are monitoring a whole host of big-name stars, with the club determined to make a game-changing signing this month.

To do that, the Lilywhites are reportedly ready to flex their financial muscle and could end the January window as one of the highest spenders in the Premier League.

However, throwing money at the problem may not be enough. Spurs have already missed out on their top target, Antoine Semenyo, and they could be set for more disappointment over the coming weeks.

Thomas Frank believes top players will want to come to Tottenham

A few weeks ago, former Spurs defender Ramon Vega suggested that no world-class player would want to join Tottenham right now, given the state the club are in at the moment.

However, Frank refuted that claim, insisting that the size of the club and the potential it has will make them an attractive destination for many players.

The Tottenham boss said (via Football.London): “We are very attractive in many ways. Spurs is a fantastic club with a huge potential. I think some of the boxes you need to tick are the stadium, the training ground and the potential.

“Of course, if we compete against the three teams that are clearly ahead of us – City, Arsenal and Liverpool, unfortunately – then those three clubs are probably more attractive right now. That’s not to say we can’t attract some of the players that also want to go to those clubs. It depends a little bit if there is a spot available for the player to play in those clubs and here.”

Frank is hoping to have Dejan Kulusevski back soon

According to reports, the latest Mohammed Kudus injury may force Tottenham to step up their pursuit of an attacker.

What will help Frank is the return of Dejan Kulusevski, who is nearly a like-for-like replacement for the Ghanian, and the Spurs boss confessed that he would love to have the Swede back as soon as possible.

When asked about Kulusevski’s recovery, the 52-year-old said: “He is a key player, and I would love to have him back soon. Unfortunately, it was a tricky injury he got, so it just takes time. They are working very hard, and he is working very hard to come back on the pitch.”
