Thomas Frank refuses to deny that 37-year-old is about to leave Tottenham Hotspur

Thomas Frank has made an interesting admission about the future of an important Tottenham staff member amid exit rumours.

The Tottenham boss has no shortage of problems to deal with as the pressure mounts on him once again following Spurs’ 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.

The Lilywhites managed just one shot on target at the City Ground, and the team’s inability to create chances continues to be a pressing problem for the Dane.

He could soon have another problem on his hands as one of his staff members is now expected to leave the club.

Thomas Frank sends a hint about Matt Wells’ Tottenham future

According to reports, Tottenham assistant coach Matt Wells is in line to leave the North London club to begin his journey as a manager.

The 37-year-old is expected to be named as Colorado Rapids’ new head coach ahead of the 2026 Major League Soccer Season.

Frank has refused to confirm that Wells will be staying and appeared to hint that an announcement on his future may be imminent.

When asked if he expects Wells to still be at the club next week, the Tottenham boss responded (via Football.London): “There are definitely a few rumours about that. We will, how can you say, when we know if that will happen or not happen, we will announce it.”

Timing of Wells’ departure is not ideal for Frank or Spurs

Given the turmoil around Tottenham at the moment, Frank needs all the help he can to turn things around.

The Dane has several things on his plate at the moment, not least solving Spurs’ creative woes and planning for the January transfer window.

The last thing he needs at the moment is to be tasked with finding a new assistant coach, and Wells’ departure would increase the workload on him and his existing staff.
