Thomas Frank reveals fresh lunch with Tottenham hierarchy amid sack rumours

Thomas Frank has once again revealed that he held fresh talks with the Tottenham hierarchy ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Burnley, with pressure continuing to mount over his future.

Thomas Frank was able to put some speculation about his future to rest with a much-needed win during the midweek against Borussia Dortmund.

That victory effectively earned him another spot in the Tottenham dugout for the clash against Burnley in the Premier League, as reports had claimed that Frank ran the risk of losing his job had he lost in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Frank, however, has always maintained a positive outlook and has consistently stated that he has the backing of the board, having previously labelled the speculation as nothing more than a media circus before insisting that he is here to fight.

Thomas Frank discusses Tottenham hierarchy support amid sack talk

Frank did just that with the latest win and lives to fight another day, with the Dane now opening up on yet another meeting he has had with the Spurs hierarchy following his midweek success.

Speaking about the level of backing he feels from within the club, and addressing alignment between ownership, the board and senior figures, Frank told football.london:

“I think the support has been exceptional throughout the season. Not only, I know there are a few questions about me, but it is not about me. It is about me, the staff, the players, the club.

“And that needs to be aligned and that direction and alignment is very clear from ownership to the board, to Vina[Venkatesham] and Johan. Everyone is on the same page and there are a lot of things going in the right direction. We just need to back it up with even more good performances and more good results.

“I had lunch with Nick and Johan [Lange] again today, so I think it is again a good sign of just that support there is, and we need to keep going.”

He then added: “Nick was here this week. That was planned five weeks ago. So that’s normal if he’s over that we have lunch when two days he’s at the training ground.

“I have lunch with Vinai three times a week because it’s a good way to talk and get around all the small bits we need to do because we’re also busy with meetings and a busy schedule. The same with Johan, the same with Fabio [Paratici]. So it makes sense to use that time to have lunch and talk.”

Pressure remains on Frank despite brief Spurs respite

It is not at all clear for the Dane, even though the respite has eased some of the pressure he is facing.

Spurs fans still remain unconvinced about Frank, and a defeat against Burnley will only throw the Dane back into the fire.

He must now concentrate on getting a result at the weekend and delivering the sort of performance that supporters want to see – front-foot, attacking football against relegation-threatened Burnley.
