Thomas Frank has discussed the possibility of Tottenham Hotspur looking to upgrade on Guglielmo Vicario in January.
It has been reported over recent weeks that Spurs are studying the possibility of signing a new goalkeeper in January.
Vicario did not help his cause by making another poor mistake on Saturday against Fulham, which gifted the away side their second goal.
The Tottenham number one was booed and mocked by Spurs fans after his mistake. Thomas Frank came out strongly against the Tottenham fans’ treatment of Vicario, labelling it ‘unacceptable’.

Thomas Frank reveals if Tottenham will replace Guglielmo Vicario
It was reported by TEAMtalk on Monday that Vicario is expected to remain Tottenham’s number one, and Spurs may only be looking to sign an understudy to the Italian.
That has now been confirmed by Frank himself, who backed the 28-year-old to bounce back from his mistake against Fulham.
When asked if Vacrio’s position as Tottenham’s first-choice goalkeeper is under threat, the Spurs boss responded (via The Daily Mail): “Oh no, not for me, he made one mistake. Everyone makes mistakes. It’s about how you carry yourself in good and bad times, and he is very consistent. His character is fantastic in every aspect.”
Vicario has proven his worth to Spurs this season
There is no doubt that the former Empoli man has made one too many mistakes so far this campaign, but he has also bailed out his side on many occasions.
Spurs fans should not forget the fact that Vicario has delivered several Man of the Match performances this season.
Vicario has also been named in Tottenham’s leadership group by Frank, which means that the Italian’s voice in the dressing room is valued highly.
