Thomas Frank has spoken about Archie Gray’s situation at Tottenham, with the youngster struggling for game time despite his versatility and potential.
Many Tottenham Hotspur fans will be satisfied with the progress their side has made this season under Thomas Frank, who has quickly raised the standards at the club.
Tottenham endured a miserable campaign last term, finishing 17th, but the Dane has come in and lifted them to third place in the Premier League, underlining just how far the team has come in a short space of time.
It is not only the collective that has improved, as several individuals have also stepped up, with Pedro Porro and Lucas Bergvall two players who have been particularly impressive in key metrics this season.

Thomas Frank speaks on Archie Gray at Tottenham
While many players have pushed on under Frank, others have found minutes hard to come by, with Archie Gray limited to just one start so far this season.
Gray arrived in 2024 under Ange Postecoglou in a £40 million deal, joining with a reputation as one of the brightest young talents in English football, but his opportunities have been scarce.
Speaking to the club’s official channels, Frank addressed Gray’s lack of minutes and highlighted what he has seen from the midfielder:
He said, “I like flexible players, which gives us squad depth and different opportunities. I see him more as a midfielder. He has really impressed me.
“He played a very good pre-season friendly against Newcastle and was great against Burnley. Unfortunately, we cannot play more than 11 players. Maybe we can change the rules…”
Archie Gray’s versatility gives Tottenham options
Gray is undoubtedly versatile, with the teenager capable of playing in midfield, at centre-back, or even filling in at full-back when required.
Although his minutes have been limited, he did impress in the match against Burnley at the start of the season, where he showed his quality and composure in possession.
Competition for places in the middle of the park is currently fierce, with the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur, Joao Palhinha, and Pape Matar Sarr all pushing for starts, but Gray could yet get his chance in the Carabao Cup when Tottenham take on Doncaster this midweek.
