Thomas Frank has revealed what impressed him the most about Xavi Simons during Tottenham Hotspur’s decisive 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund.
There is finally something to cheer about at Tottenham Hotspur following their strong showing in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Spurs looked very bright in the attacking third against Borussia Dortmund, and their fans were left wondering how the score was only 2-0 at full-time.
Most of Thomas Frank’s players had a good game, but Xavi Simons stood out in particular with his delightful dribbling and slick passes.

Thomas Frank reveals why he was impressed by Xavi Simons
It is important to remember that Simons suffered a poor display only a matter of days ago in the dismal London derby defeat to West Ham.
Worse still, Xavi Simons picked up an injury during the game. However, the Dutchman declared himself ready to take on Borussia Dortmund and this has caused Frank to show his appreciation.
Speaking on Simons’ performance after Tottenham’s victory, Frank told TNT Sports: “First and foremost, there were many good bits and I liked his mentality to push through with an injury and play with pain.
“He played with determination and focus and I think he had some decisive actions.”
He added: “Xavi produced a lot of good moments and found good positions.”
Simons has delivered for Spurs at the perfect time
Tottenham have had somewhat of a midfield injury crisis in recent weeks, but they have recently seen the return of Yves Bissouma from AFCON and the signing of Conor Gallagher.
Pape Matar Sarr will also be back in the Tottenham first-team squad after his triumph at the tournament with Senegal, meaning Simons could have been placed under pressure.
However, the 22-year-old was brilliant against Borussia Dortmund and should be a nailed-on starter at the weekend, provided he is fit enough to feature against Burnley.
