Thomas Frank has praised one Tottenham star for his commanding displays in recent weeks, ahead of their Carabao Cup tie against Newcastle United.
Tottenham Hotspur have been without club captain Cristian Romero in their last three outings and are yet to suffer defeat, although performances have not been entirely convincing.
At the weekend, however, Spurs produced a complete performance against Everton at the Hill Dickson Stadium, beating David Moyes’ side 3-0 in one of their most dominant displays under Thomas Frank.
Micky van de Ven may have been the hero on the night thanks to his brace, but his centre-back partner, Kevin Danso, was equally as impressive, earning plaudits from supporters and pundits alike for an assured performance at the back.

Thomas Frank praises Kevin Danso for defensive displays
Tottenham fans have gone on to compare Kevin Danso to club legend Ledley King, while others believe that he has been so reliable that the absence of Cristian Romero has barely been felt.
Thomas Frank was asked about the 27-year-old ahead of Spurs’ upcoming clash with Newcastle United, and the Dane was full of admiration for the defender’s professionalism and mentality.
Speaking to club media, he said, “He deserves praise. Every coach will love him, great character and personality.
“He was good and calm on the ball. Some strong battles with Beto, from crosses and set pieces he had a magnet head. He did well.”
Kevin Danso’s importance to Tottenham’s defensive structure
Danso was indeed excellent against Everton’s physical forwards, who thrive on aerial duels and hold-up play, but the Tottenham defender handled them with composure and authority throughout the game.
He was immense in the air, registering 15 headed clearances while also winning 100% of his duels. The Austrian definitely remains a vital part of Thomas Frank’s defensive plans, offering flexibility should the manager decide to switch to a back three in certain fixtures.
With 6ft 6 striker Nick Woltemade set to lead the line for Newcastle next, Frank will be hoping that Danso can maintain his current level of form.
