Thomas Frank has named a former Tottenham man as the best player he ever coached and revealed that the best individual performance he ever saw live came against Spurs.
While the Tottenham job is undoubtedly the biggest Frank has held in his two-decade-long managerial career, he has worked with top players during that journey.
Across his time with the Danish youth sides and with Brentford, the 51-year-old managed some extremely talented players.
He has now also inherited a talented Spurs squad, which he is just starting to get to know, and it is thus very interesting to hear who he rates as the best player he has coached.

Thomas Frank names the former Tottenham midfielder as the best he has coached
When the question was put to the Tottenham boss, the first name that came to his mind was Christian Eriksen, whom he coached for a brief period during the second half of the 2021-2022 season at the Gtech Community Stadium.
He also named another former Tottenham midfielder, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, whom he worked with during his time with Denmark’s youth teams.
When asked who the best player he has coached, Frank said (via SportsBible): “Ah. That’s a very tricky question here, Nick. I’ll mention a few. Former Tottenham player Christian Eriksen I think was a fantastic player. Coached him when he was in my under-17 national team.
“I would say also both Ivan Toney, David Raya, Ollie Watkins are among them, and another one, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg in the national team, and Andreas Christensen.”
Frank reveals the best player he has ever watched live
Unsurprisingly, the Tottenham boss named Lionel Messi as the best player he has ever seen play live.
Interestingly, Frank revealed that one of those occasions was against Tottenham in 2018, when the Argentine magician tore Spurs to shreds as Barcelona won 4-2 at Wembley.
When asked who was the best player he had ever seen live, the 51-year-old said: “Messi. Been privileged to watch him, I think, eight or 10 times. Exceptional, I must admit. I actually watched him against, I think it was Tottenham, wasn’t it? But anyway, he was very, very good, so a top player.”
