Thomas Frank has opened up about his start to life as Tottenham boss, reflecting on the differences between managing Spurs and his time at Brentford.
Thomas Frank was long viewed as one of the most promising managers in the Premier League during his time at Brentford.
It always felt like a matter of time before a bigger club came calling, and this summer, the Dane answered Tottenham Hotspur’s call by signing a three-year deal to take charge in north London.
Life at Tottenham has not been entirely smooth sailing for Frank, who has experienced both highs and lows since taking over.
He has certainly improved Tottenham’s league position compared to last season, but inconsistency in performances and results has seen him face his fair share of criticism from sections of the fanbase.

In his words, as quoted by the official Tottenham Hotspur channel, he said: “It is a work in progress.”
Speaking on his start to life in north London, he added: “It has been super exciting. A big learning curve. You learn every single day. I think it has been overall fine.
“I think we have done quite well to get the amount of points we have done in the Champions League and Premier League, competing on both fronts. We are far from where I want us to be but we will get there.”
Thomas Frank compares Spurs to Brentford
Frank went on to discuss how his day-to-day experience at Tottenham differs from his time at Brentford, explaining that while the environment is different, much of his approach remains the same.
Thomas continued: “When I walked in here… ‘Is it different (to Brentford)?’ No, it is the same in many ways. A lot is exactly the same, it is just different people, tactics. When I say learning curve, learning about reactions, learning about people.”
He also reflected on how dealing with personalities plays a major part in football management, adding: “We all have egos. If you do not have an ego, we would not be sitting here.
“Some are better managing it themselves. Some need a bit more guidance managing it.”
Finally, Frank highlighted the importance of unity between the players and supporters, praising the atmosphere during recent games and calling for continued togetherness.
On creating a collaborative environment, he said: “It was really rocking. It was great to see and experience. It needs to be a collaborative approach from fans and players.
“The more we can push each other to bring that positive energy the better. We will do everything we can do to perform. That positivity, we need to build on that.”
