Thomas Frank’s record against Liverpool sends a clear message to Tottenham this weekend

Tottenham Hotspur host Liverpool this weekend in the Premier League, and Thomas Frank may not arrive with much confidence.

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to bounce back from a dreadful 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, but Liverpool will not make things easy for them.

Arne Slot’s side have a good record against Spurs and scored six goals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in this fixture last season.

Worse still, Liverpool have found some form and are unbeaten in their past five matches across all competitions, claiming three victories.

Thomas Frank has a poor record against Liverpool

The facts sound bad enough already, and they get worse after exploring Thomas Frank’s historic results against the Premier League title holders.

Frank has only won one of his eight meetings against Liverpool – a 3-1 Brentford victory which took place four years ago next month. The Reds went on to win the next five fixtures between the sides.

In total, Frank has recorded one win, one draw and six defeats against Liverpool, averaging 0.5 points per game.

If he has any hope of competing at the top end of the table, Frank will have to start picking up wins at home to fellow members of the so-called ‘big six’.

Tottenham need to defy the odds against Arne Slot

While every stat is pointing towards a Spurs defeat, this is a club who do the unexpected. Tottenham have a reputation for winning fixtures they are not expected to win and failing to secure victories when three points should have been almost guaranteed.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs will manage to get the better of Liverpool, but this is a game of great importance. Another defeat and the Premier League table will look very ugly to those of a Tottenham persuasion.
