Thomas Tuchel outlines the ‘one big similarity’ between Kane and Lukaku

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel believes there is ‘one big similarity’ between Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku, in that they score crucial goals.

The Blues travel across London on Sunday, where they will face Nuno Espirito Santo’s side and much of the build-up ahead of the anticipated London derby has been focused on the battle of the strikers, with Kane and Lukaku taking centre stage.

Both enjoyed stellar seasons last campaign and each made their individual cases as two of the top forwards in the world.

Chelsea re-signed Lukaku over the summer for a club-record £97.5 million fee after recording 24 goals and 10 assists as Inter Milan romped to the Serie A title.

As for England captain Kane, he produced his most stellar individual campaign yet, scoring 23 goals and providing 14 assists, to claim both the Premier League Golden Boot and Playmaker awards.

Kane, though, has yet to tally so far this season, while Lukaku is already up and running with three goals in as many league appearances.

Blues boss Tuchel has been speaking about the pair ahead of Sunday’s clash, and claimed that despite their different styles of play, they both provide the same outcome.

He told football.london: “There is one big similarity – they score decisive goals. Apart from this, they are very different players. We need to focus if Kane plays on how to defend him.

“I am actually not so much involved in speculations for who will and who will not play. We face a tough opponent, it is a London derby. We had a great result last season that we want to repeat.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Lukaku so far has been proving why Chelsea forked out such a big sum of cash to re-sign him this summer. He came up with the winner in the Champions League, which is what you want your star striker to do.

Both Lukaku and Kane have staked their credentials in the past, but it will be interesting to see who comes out on top this weekend.
