Three former Spurs players send messages to Walker-Peters after leaving the club

Three of Kyle Walker-Peters’ former Tottenham Hotspur teammates took to social media to congratulate the right-back after he completed a move to Southampton earlier this week.

As expected, Spurs announced that Walker-Peters had joined the Saints shortly after they confirmed their capture of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Reports indicate that Southampton paid £12million plus add ons to sign the defender, after his impressive showing on loan on the South Coast.

While the Spurs academy graduate initially found it difficult to break into Ralph Hasenhuttl side’s after joining in January, he made the right-back spot his own after the restart and looked accomplished both defensively and going forward.

After sealing the move to Southampton, the former England Under-21 star took to Instagram to admit his excitement at completing the move.

Recently departed Jan Vertonghen, as well as former Spurs right-back Kieran Trippier, were among those to react to Walker-Peters’ post as they wished him luck in his new adventure.

While Vertonghen commented: “All the best bro” along with two flexing arm emojis, Trippier wrote: “Good luck bro” with a raising hands emoji and a flexing arm emoji.

Meanwhile, former Spurs midfielder Josh Onomah responded simply with the heart eyes emoji.

Arsenal defender Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who has recently been linked with a move across the North London divide (The Sun), also sent a congratulatory message to Walker-Peters.

He commented: “New chapter bro”.

Spurs Web Opinion

Walker-Peters will consider himself unlucky not to have been handed more opportunities at Spurs over the last two to three years. The youngster certainly remained patient but it did not seem like Pochettino trusted him enough to give him a run of games. Only time will tell if the former Spurs boss would be proved right.
