Three Spurs players sent messages to Steven Bergwijn after his debut Ajax hat-trick

Eric Dier, Sergio Reguilon and Japhet Tanganga congratulated Steven Bergwijn after the former Tottenham man netted a hat-trick in his first home game for Ajax.

Ajax agreed a deal worth €31.25m (£26.4m) with Tottenham to take the winger back to the Eredivisie last month.

The 24-year-old scored in his first game for the club in the Dutch Super Cup two weeks ago and made his home debut an occasion to remember at the weekend, netting a hat-trick as Ajax thrashed Groningen 6-1 at the Johan Cruijff Arena on Sunday.

Bergwjn’s third goal just after half-time was particularly memorable, with the Netherlands international carrying the ball to the edge of the box before curling it into the top corner.

The winger will be hoping to continue the same vein of form leading into the World Cup in November.

Bergwijn took to Instagram to post a picture of his trademark celebration, along with the caption: “Perfect Sunday” and three of his former teammates commented on the post.

Reguilon commented: “You deserve it”, while Japhet Tangana responded with two fire emojis and Eric Dier responded with an Ox emoji.

Spurs Web Opinion

Bergwijn proved even before his move to Spurs that he was too good for the Eredivisie and so, it is not surprising to see that he has started with a bang at Ajax. I would not be surprised if the 24-year-old ends up winning the Player of the Season award in the Netherlands this season.
