Three Spurs stars make England squad for Nations League – One big name misses out

Gareth Southgate has named England’s 24-man squad for their Nations League clashes against Iceland and Denmark early next month and three Tottenham stars have made the cut.

Harry Kane, Harry Winks, and Eric Dier have been named for the two matches which will take place just before the start of the Premier League campaign, on September 5 and September 8.

Dier missed out on the last England squad for Euro 2020 qualifiers against Kosovo and Montenegro in November 2019 (Sky Sports).

However, he has had a new lease of life since moving to centre-back and his improved form has now seen Southgate reward him with a call-up.

However, Dele Alli once again misses out as Southgate has chosen to go with Mason Mount and Phil Foden instead, while Danny Rose also failed to make the cut.

Here is the full 24-man squad who will face Iceland and Denmark early next month:

I am hoping that Dier will get an opportunity to start at centre-half at least one of the two matches and show Southgate what he can do. I believe the 26-year-old is good enough to start for England in central defence despite facing plenty of competition from the likes of Maguire, Gomez, Mings and Keane.
