Tim Sherwood calls on Daniel Levy to deliver two signings for Spurs in January

Tim Sherwood has opined that Tottenham Hotspur need two top signings in the January transfer window if they are to have a decent shot at finishing in the top four and winning silverware this season.

Tottenham’s season has been a rollercoaster ride so far, with the Lilywhites making an outstanding start to the campaign before going on a run of one draw and four losses in five Premier League games recently.

However, they are now back on track after two consecutive wins over Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest and currently find themselves in fifth place, just five points off Arsenal at the top of the table.

Spurs will only get stronger when some of their key players return from injury but Postecoglou warned last week that it is going to take at least a couple of more transfer windows before the club have the kind of squad that can go toe-to-toe with the best teams in the division (Sky Sports).

Sherwood wants to see Spurs signings in January

Sherwood has commended the job that the Australian has done and said that Tottenham can have a memorable campaign if they bring in a centre-back and a creative midfielder through the door next month.

The former Spurs midfielder and interim head coach told Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel: “Ange Postecoglou, wow, what can I say? What a job that man has done.

“He’s lifted the cloud away from Tottenham in the last few years, playing an attractive style of football everyone wants to watch, not only Tottenham fans but everyone.

“If they strengthen in January I think they’re going to need [a] centre-back and maybe a creative midfield player just in case [James] Maddison picks up any more injuries.

“And I think they can go all the way to the top four this year and possibly the FA Cup, fingers crossed.”

Even though some of the results have not gone our way in the past month and a half, I have been really encouraged by the football that we have played even without many of our key players.

When Maddison, Bentancur and Van de Ven are back fit, we will be an extremely formidable side and if we can make two or three solid additions in January, there is no reason why we would be able to finish in the top-four.
