Tim Sherwood issues warning to Spurs fans ahead of facing RB Leipzig

Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Tim Sherwood has warned the club’s supporters not to underestimate the challenge of RB Leipzig.

Tottenham were drawn against the German side in the Champions League round of 16 draw which was held yesterday morning in Nyon, Switzerland.

With Spurs having avoided the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Juventus, some fans took to Twitter to share their relief and express their delight at facing Leipzig.

They finished top of Group G with eleven points from their six matches ahead of Lyon, Benfica and Zenit.

Sherwood believes that some fans are getting ahead of themselves and need to be wary of the showdown with Leipzig.

The side which are coached by 32-year-old Julian Nagelsmann are currently top of the Bundesliga table, two points ahead of Bayern Munich.

Sherwood told Alan Brazil’s Sports Breakfast Show on talkSPORT (17/12/19, 09:17am): “There are bigger names in there,”

“When you play Real Madrid or Bayern Munich. Tottenham fans are expecting to get past Leipzig and looking at the next round. They’ve got a top manager, they have Timo Werner.”

Opinion

Any side who make it to the last 16 of the Champions League are a quality team. However, based on who we could have potentially faced a tie against RB Leipzig or Valencia were the most desirable.
