Tim Sherwood on what Spurs must do to finish in the top four this season

Tim Sherwood believes that Tottenham Hotspur can still finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.

The former Spurs boss made the claim after watching the North Londoners beat Sheffield United 4-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last night.

The home side had to be patient for their first goal which came after 39 minutes when a clever assist from Serge Aurier allowed Gareth Bale to race beyond the Blades defence and dink the ball over the onrushing Aaron Ramsdale.

Sherwood claimed that Tottenham will have to win each of their remaining four matches against Leeds United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa and Leicester City if they are to rival Chelsea, West Ham, Leicester and Liverpool.

Spurs are currently five points behind fourth-place Chelsea who have Manchester City, Arsenal, Leicester and Aston Villa to play in their last four top flight matches.

After suffering a humiliating exit in the Europa League at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb, Spurs’ only hopes of returning to the Champions League rest on finishing in the top four.

He told the Premier League website live blog on 2/5/21 at 21:26: “Spurs have still got an outside chance of finishing in the top four. They’ll have to win every game and Chelsea, West Ham, Leicester, Liverpool are not going away, Everton look like they’ve faded – but they’ve still got a chance.”
