Tim Sherwood thinks Spurs will sell their ‘best midfielder’ this summer

It seems Tottenham Hotspur are planning an exodus of players this summer, and fans and pundits are speculating who might leave the club. Now, Tim Sherwood has suggested Rodrigo Bentancur will be sold, with the names of Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, and Dejan Kulusevski also mentioned.

Ange Postecoglou has been talking about the ‘change’ he needs to see at Spurs this summer, in terms of moving players on so that he can bring new and more suitable players into his squad.

The Telegraph has already earmarked Richarlison as one player who could be among the dozen Postecoglou wants to sell. Meanwhile, the likes of Yves Bissouma and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have been mentioned as potential exits from the midfield area.

Little is known regarding who is actually available for transfer this summer, but by this point, most of the squad has been mentioned as potential departures if the offer is right.

Who will leave Spurs this summer?

Now, Tim Sherwood and Darren Lewis have been discussing the options on Premier League Productions (06/05/24 at 2:45 pm) and came up with a surprising outcome.

Lewis said: “I think what’s going to happen at Spurs is four or five players are going to leave. I don’t think Richarlison has a long-term future at the club. Kulusevski has gone off the boil. There are one or two players in the midfield that I think are okay. Hojbjerg I think will go in the summer.”

Sherwood then added: “It looks like Bentancur will go. If you asked Tottenham fans, they will tell you he is the best midfield player they have got. Bissouma was outstanding at the start of the season. They have all gone off the boil at the same time. Maddison, who was a revelation, not anymore.”

I’m sorry, but how does it look like Bentancur will go? I have no idea what Sherwood is basing that assumption on, but I would say there is almost zero chance of Bentancur leaving the club. The speculation is just madness now, with every single player being suggested as leaving this summer.
