Tim Sherwood urges Spurs star to follow in footsteps of Liverpool and Chelsea playmakers

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood believes that Dele Alli should look to follow in the footsteps of Liverpool’s Mo Salah and Manchester City’s midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne in light of the difficult season he is experiencing.

Sherwood has urged the Tottenham midfielder to leave North London and prove Jose Mourinho wrong.

Dele has struggled to hold down a regular place in Mourinho’s squad this season having been left out of five of the nine matches played in all competitions to date (transfermarkt).

Sherwood looked to the examples of Salah and De Bruyne who both played under Mourinho at Chelsea, but failed to make an impact at Stamford Bridge before being sold and going on to become a major force in the Premier League with their respective clubs.

The England international was heavily linked with a loan move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window, only for the switch to fail to materialise (The Telegraph).

He told told Optus Sport’s The Kelly And Wrighty Show (October 15): “If I’m Dele Alli, I’m rolling my sleeves up and telling Mourinho that if it is not going to be here, I’ll go somewhere else and prove you wrong, again, like he has been proved wrong before. He’s got it wrong before, De Bruyne, Salah,”
