“Time for Davies to have a chance” – Some fans impressed by Spurs defender in his first start of the season

Most of Tottenham’s first team players were involved in international action for the past week. While the limelight has understandably on the English, Belgian and French stars who have all had successful weeks with their national teams, Ben Davies also put in an impressive display for Wales on Monday night.

The Spurs man was handed his first start of the season by Wales manager Ryan Giggs as the Dragons took on Belarus at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Davies put in a typically industrious and competent display as he helped his side keep a clean sheet and see out a 1-0 win.

The 26-year-old missed the start of the season with a groin injury, meaning he has played just two minutes for Spurs so far this season when he appeared as a substitute against Newcastle United.

With the former Swansea man needing to get some game time under his belt, Spurs fans will be delighted that the defender looked his usual composed self and came out of the game unscathed.

Some Wales supporters were certainly left mightily impressed with the Spurs defender’s display against Belarus.

Spurs Web Opinion

In my opinion, Ben Davies is judged rather too harshly by some Spurs fans. He always works his socks off and rarely makes any defensive mistakes. While he is not too effective going forward, his passing and crossing have also improved considerably in the last few years. While I still expect Rose to be the first choice, Davies will once again prove a useful squad option through the season.
