Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have been taking to Twitter following the news that Christian Eriksen wants to leave the club.

The Danish international has been a key part of Tottenham’s progression under Mauricio Pochettino and has now told the Danish media that he wants a fresh challenge this summer. (Ekstra Bladet)

His current contract situation at Spurs poses a risk with him having just a year left on his current contract which has seen him become the subject of rumoured interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The 27-year-old’s revelation comes on the back of the club’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League final on Saturday evening and represents a significant blow for Mauricio Pochettino who would no doubt want to keep the playmaker in North London.

Daniel Levy has a track record of being a tough negotiator with Real Madrid over the transfers for Gareth Bale and Luka Modric and it remains to be seen whether he will see eye to eye with Florentino Perez at the negotiation table this time around (Guardian).

  1. I love Eriksen and on his day wow he’s just unbelievable but unfortunately those days are less frequent.
I don’t know if Lo Celso is the answer or Ceballos or someone else but if a decent £80m+ offer comes in and he’s not signed that contract then we have to accept it and move on.
Ndombele is a must, the lad will go a long way to replacing Dembele and transforming us into Champions.
Personally beyond them too isld love to see Sessegon, Wan Bissaka, Ben Godfrey and Jay Rodriguez signed (decent back up at £5m) and I think we all set, especially if Davies is used as cover for Vertonghan at LCB

  2. Normally I would be gutted to see Eriksen go, but like Modric before, his performances since February have been so poor that I wouldn’t want to see him extend his deal.

Eriksen at his peak was a great player for key passes, but never tackled and for a playmaker his dead balls were extremely poor.

Lo Celso looks a little more direct and I would worry about us becoming a bit too direct if he came in, and not creative enough. Been following Rodrigo De Paul and am really impressed with him, hes tricky, combative and has a really good eye for a pass and has really shone in a bang average Udinese side. At 30m he looks like an absolute must sign player.

For me personally, dream summer would be Lo Celso, NDombele, De Paul and Wan Bissaka. Trippier and Eriksen to exit.
