‘Times are positive’ – Spurs star reveals he spoke with Eriksen about Conte

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has admitted that he and his Tottenham teammates are motivated to improve under the stewardship of Antonio Conte.

After a positive start to the season under Nuno Espirito Santo, Spurs quickly fell off the rails as they struggled to create chances while also leaking goals at the back.

The atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Portuguese coach’s final game in charge – the 3-0 loss to Manchester United – turned quite toxic.

However, the feeling surrounding the North London club has been transformed over the last week following Conte’s arrival.

According to reports, the players have been blown away by the Italian’s training sessions in the week since his arrival.

Hojbjerg has now admitted that he spoke to his Denmark teammates Christian Eriksen and Andreas Christensen about Conte before his arrival.

The Spurs midfielder admitted to being a fan of his new boss’ direct and straightforward style of communication.

Hojbjerg said (via AlfredoPedulla.com): “Obviously I knew him, like the rest of the world but not personally.

“I talked about him with Christian Eriksen who had him at Inter and with Andreas Christensen who crossed him at Chelsea.

“Now with Conte, the times are positive, because he has a direct and clear way, on and off the pitch. As a player, it is motivating.”

One does get the feeling that Conte and Hojbjerg will get along well and will enjoy working with each other given their similar personalities.

The Italian has always preferred to have many leaders on the pitch, which is why I expect the Dane to be a regular feature in the starting eleven.
