Timo Werner has expressed his delight after it was confirmed that he will remain with Tottenham Hotspur during the 2024-25 season.

Werner proved a valuable addition to the Spurs squad after arriving on loan from RB Leipzig in January, with the German getting plenty of game time under his belt and chipping with some important contributions in the final third.
The 28-year-old was brought in due to Spurs’ lack of attacking options with Heung-min Son having been on international duty with South Korea and Dejan Kulusevski sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Rather than exercising the option to buy him permanently, Tottenham have agreed a deal with Leipzig to extend his loan spell by a further 12 months.
According to various reports, Spurs will be covering the 28-year-old’s full salary next season and also have the option to land him on a permanent basis for just £8.5m in 2025 (BBC Sport).
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold reported on Wednesday that the transfer is viewed internally at Hotspur Way as ‘an astute piece of business’ since the forward’s arrival helps bolster Tottenham’s options upfront without eating into their summer transfer budget.
The journalist further explained that the former Chelsea player was keen to remain at Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou has enjoyed working with him.

Reacting after sealing his move to N17, Werner told Spurs’ official website: “I see how good the club is, how good we are as a team and also, my perspective in the team, it makes it a really good place to stay.
“When I got the call from the manager, it was clear for me that he is a person who is 100 per cent behind you if he wants you and that was, for me, in this moment, the most important thing.
“Also, the idea how he wanted to play and how he explained it to me fits very well with me. The players are all very kind, so that made it easy for me. I feel very good here. I like it a lot.”
Werner made 14 appearances during his first spell at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, scoring two goals and providing three assists before his season was cut short with a hamstring injury suffered in the North London derby (transfermarkt).
Spurs Web Opinion
Werner is evidently a great character to have in the dressing room and comes across as a team player and not the type who would sulk if he is left out of the side.
He has already showcased that he has some very useful attributes which makes him a valuable squad option.
Ange clearly wanted him back, which is why I am struggling to understand some of the negative reaction on social media to this signing.
With Bryan Gil and Manor Solomon likely to head out of the door and the club looking to compete in multiple competitions, depth is required in the Tottenham first team squad and Werner will provide cover when needed.
