Timo Werner had the last laugh over two Tottenham legends, Son Heung-min and Hugo Lloris, as they locked horns in Major League Soccer.
Son had an excellent start to his career in MLS after calling time on his 11-year spell at Tottenham last summer to join LAFC.
The forward joined another former Spurs captain, Hugo Lloris, at the club, and scored 12 goals in 13 outings last season.
Son returned to Tottenham to say goodbye to Spurs fans in person back in December, and he and his side have started the 2026 MLS season in fine fashion, currently sitting third in the MLS Western Conference table.

Son and Lloris came up against a familiar face on Sunday night as LAFC locked horns with the German winger’s new side, San Jose Earthquakes.
It was the away side that emerged 4-1 winners at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, with Son going goalless in the game.
On the other hand, Werner did make an impact, scoring the away side’s second goal on 56 minutes. The 30-year-old was the first to a loose ball, carried it into the box past a defender’s challenge, before calmly slotting it into the back of the net.

Werner opens up on special Son reunion
The German international did not play with Lloris in North London, but Son was his captain across his 18-month spell at Spurs.
Werner admitted that it was a great feeling to catch up with his former Tottenham teammate for the first time since departing the Premier League side last summer.
Werner said (via The Chosun Daily): “Before the match, I enjoyed our reunion by joking around lightly with Son Heung-min. After the match, we had a longer conversation. I am really happy to see Sonny again in the United States.”
“During our time at Tottenham, Son was one of my good friends. I am truly happy that he is playing happily in a place where he can enjoy himself. I am happy to meet him.”
