Title race not over according to Lloris

Hugo Lloris believes we can still keep the pressure on leaders Manchester City if we show consistency according to an article on ESPN.

We of course lost 1-0 at Manchester United on Saturday, and with Pep Guardiola’s men winning, we are now eight points behind the Citizens.

However according to ESPN Lloris feels it is too early to write off our chances in the Premier League race and our captain told reporters: “Before, even now, we don’t really talk about the title.
“The target is to be as consistent as possible, to stay at the top of the table, ready to fight. The season is still long.

“City have a good advantage at the moment but every team is going to have their momentum and their bad moment too, so we just need to be consistent and be ready in the final sprint in March and April.”

We haven’t faired so well at Old Trafford in recent years, and we were on course for a decent draw until a mistake at the back allowed Antony Martial to score late on after Romelu Lukaku had flicked on a long goal-kick.

“To lose this game in that way, in that type of action, makes us very disappointed because from a long kick from their keeper we should have been more organised,” Lloris said.

“I don’t think we played a great game in possession. I think we were great in the challenges and with the spirit — it was a big, big battle — but then we should have done a bit better with the ball at our feet.

He added: “That wasn’t easy because the opponent pressed a lot and they were very aggressive, but to lose the game on the basics is very frustrating.

“In that kind of game it’s about details. The season is very long and it’s not only about this game or another, it’s about being as consistent as possible.”

We have now lost our last two matches, including a 3-2 defeat to West Ham in the League Cup, and our next challenge is of course Wednesday’s Champions League showdown with holders Real Madrid at Wembley.

Lloris continued “It’s true, it’s two defeats in a row and it’s not a good feeling,” Lloris said. “It’s a moment to stay calm, stay confident and talk to each other to digest this game.
“It’s important to stay calm and prepare for Wednesday as well as possible.”

Optimistic words their from Hugo. A little too optimistic perhaps? City will have to have a serious wobble for us to get near them. Do you agree? Let us know your thoughts
