Tottenham Hotspur finally confirmed the loan signing of Gareth Bale on social media this evening, finally presenting Spurs fans with a perfect ending to the saga.
Bale left North London as a superstar back in 2013, with his transfer to Real Madrid breaking the world-record fee, a reported £85m (BBC).
In the seven years since the Welshman has been away, plenty has happened for both him and Tottenham Hotspur.
Bale has won 13 trophies with Los Blancos, including an incredible four Champions League titles, with three of those coming in successive years.
Meanwhile back in London, Spurs have moved into a world-class new stadium, have bedded into the new training ground, and now have serial winner Jose Mourinho at the helm.
Gareth took to Twitter as soon as the announcement of his return was made this evening, sending a message to the Spurs fans he left behind all those years ago.
He said: ‘To all the Spurs fans, after 7 years, I’m back!’ – even quote tweeting his original goodbye message from 2013.
