‘To create problems’ – Conte tells Spurs stars to be ‘ready to suffer’ against Liverpool

Antonio Conte has labelled Liverpool as one of the best teams in the world and admitted that his side will not have everything their own way on Sunday.

Tottenham have seen their results improve considerably since Conte took over at the start of last month. The North Londoners have won three and drawn one of their four Premier League matches under the Italian, conceding just one goal in the process.

However, Conte faces his toughest test yet as Spurs boss on Sunday, with Liverpool visiting the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 52-year-old admitted that his players need to remain resolute in the tough moments against the Reds and look to hurt them when they have the ball.

Conte told Football.London about Tottenham’s opponents: “Liverpool is one of the best teams in Europe and also in the world for what they are doing and for what Jurgen created in these years.

“They work very well. They really work hard. A strong team. It’s very good to watch. It’s nice to watch Liverpool games. They play the way that they play, the enthusiasm and the passion they put into every game.

“We must be ready and we know that the game is not simple. We’ll face difficulty but we have to know that during the game there are moments we must be ready to suffer.

“At the same time we have prepared the game to try, when we have the ball, to create problems for Liverpool.”

The Spurs head coach stated in his press conference on Friday that the morale of the squad is down in light of repeated postponements over the last couple of weeks.

However, he has now admitted that there is a buzz around the club ahead of Sunday due to the quality of opponents they are facing.

He added: “These important games bring excitement about the players, about the whole environment.

“We know very well the difficulty that we can face to play against Liverpool in this moment but at the same time the players will be excited to play against a strong team.”

We have shown a vast improvement defensively under Conte but Sunday will be the first major test of our backline. We also cannot afford to be as wasteful in front of goal as we have over recent weeks if we are to come away with a result from the match.
