Toby Alderweireld reveals funny new nickname for Steven Bergwijn

Tottenham Hotspur made their third winter signing in the dying days of the January transfer window when they brought Steven Bergwijn in from PSV Eindhoven.

The Dutch winger followed in the footsteps of Gedson Fernandes, who had earlier jonined on an 18-month loan from Benfica and Giovani Lo Celso who made his loan spell from Real Betis permanent.

The ex-Eredivisie man has certainly already made a big impact in North London after he netted the crucial opener against Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium yesterday afternoon.

Bergwijn was able to cushion a cross down on his chest before swivelling and volleying the ball home past Ederson in the City goal in front of the 17,500 capacity single tier south stand.

Spurs went on to win the game 2-0 after a second goal from Heung-min Son, although Bergwijn did not manage 90 minutes after pulling up with cramp on the 70th minute and was replaced with Erik Lamela.

In a congratulatory message, Toby Alderweireld also came up with a new nickname for the latest Spurs recruit, calling his Stevie Wonder.
