Toby Alderweireld sends message after Spurs suffer coronavirus delay

Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld has taken to Twitter to share his thoughts after the Premier League season was halted.

The decision was made earlier today for the Premier League, FA, EFL and WSL to postpone the professional game in England until at least April 4th subject to medical advice.

A number of clubs and teams have been impacted by the spread of COVID-19 in recent days.

North London rivals Arsenal have gone into self isolation after manager Mikel Arteta was confirmed to have tested positive for the virus.

Similar measures were implemented at Chelsea after winger Callum Hudson-Odoi became the first Premier League player to have picked up the virus when he displayed symptoms similar to a mild cold on Monday morning (BBC).

Alderweireld has backed the decision and urged everyone to respect the measures which have been put in place whilst also offering his well-wishes to those who have been affected.

Tottenham’s upcoming matches against Manchester United and West Ham will have to be re-arranged for a later date.
