Toby Alderweireld sums up win against Arsenal in just four words

Toby Alderweireld saw himself having to watch on from the sidelines when the Premier League season resumed last month.

With Jose Mourinho deciding to start with a defensive pairing of Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez for the matches against Manchester United, West Ham and Sheffield United, the Belgian was among the substitutes along with his compatriot Jan Vertonghen.

With Eric Dier having been given a four-match ban and fined £40,000 for climbing over seats to confront a fan after a match prior to lockdown (ESPN), it handed Alderweireld the opportunity to return to the starting eleven.

The Belgian was impressive alongside Davinson Sanchez at the heart of the Spurs defence during yesterday’s North London derby.

Alderweireld helped his side to secure the bragging rights when he rose inside the six-yard box to head home Heung-min Son’s corner kick to condemn their rivals to a 2-1 defeat in their first visit to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

After the match, the former Ajax player took to Twitter to remind fans what colour North London is as a result of the win.
