Toby Alderweireld takes to Twitter to send message of thanks to Spurs supporters

Toby Alderweireld has taken to Twitter to thank the Tottenham Hotspur fans following the win against Norwich City.

The Belgian was named in the heart of the Spurs defence alongside his compatriot Jan Vertonghen by Jose Mourinho.

Alderweireld, who signed a new contract until 2023 last month was fully appreciative of how the North London faithful have got behind the players in what has been a tough time.

The victory against the Canaries saw the club score their first Premier League goal of 2020 and also a first top flight win since Boxing Day and moved the club up to sixth in the table.

Somewhat frustratingly, leading 1-0, Mourinho’s side were once again unable to keep a clean sheet when Ryan Sessegnon bought down Max Aarons inside the box and Teemu Pukki fired the spot-kick beyond Hugo Lloris to level the score.

However, Spurs managed to get a winner eleven minutes from time when Dele Alli’s deflected effort looped to the far post, where Heung-min Son headed home from close range.
